Strong Heart

The visit with Kat went well today. We are officially at 14 weeks and 2 days already! Little Wee One has a good, strong heart beat, and hearing it still brings tears to my eyes:) Weight gain is on track, though Kat says with a smile that I'm "an early bloomer" as my tummy is "presenting" quite noticeably. Ya think?! Yikes, and I've got a long ways to go yet! Personally, I think it's because I have a minuscule torso, so for Wee One and the accompanying luggage, there's not much room to go upwards, so outward they grow!

Hugs & Love!

Change is a comin'!

I spent last week down in Tucson, AZ for work. Beautiful, mid 60 degree weather. Needless to say, my options for my business clothes have become very limited due to my thickening waist. So, I throw what I've got left in my suitcase and off I go. Tuesday, Wednesday, all is good. I wake up Thursday morning and WHAM! Somehow overnight I'd gotten pregnant! Literally overnight, I'd "popped", and throughout the day the belly seemed to get bigger and bigger and by the time I went to bed Thurs night I could hardly believe the change.

So, my already small wardrobe option shrunk even more for the remainder of the week! But, here I am with no other options, so I squeeze in to my poor dress pants that unfortunately don't really work with the rubber band trick. Poor things! I don't think they'll ever be the same due to the strain they endured:) Back at the ranch over the weekend, I finally had to commit to buying real maternity clothes. I am now the proud owner of several pairs of amazingly comfy stretchy panel pants/jeans and some shirts. What a difference comfortable clothes makes!

Little Wee One and I go and see Kat, our CNM, tomorrow, so I will try and post an update and some pictures then.

Hugs!

State of the Tummy

Time is absolutely flying by! We're so close to the end of the first trimester already that I can just about reach out and touch it!

These 12 weeks have been interesting! The constant nausea has diminished (thank goodness!), though I still don't seem to be able to tolerate dairy (no ice cream!) and animal protein--especially beef--causes GI distress. So, this cheese/ice cream/milk/meat lover from WI has been relegated to eating more like a finicky CA starlet dabbling in vegetarianism:) Bean curd curry anyone?

Despite my inability to eat with reckless abandon, Little Wee One seems to be getting bigger. While I am not really showing yet, I've have definitely gotten more "thick" through the waist and low stomach. I'm now officially down to only two pairs of normal jeans and one pair of just acquired stretchy-sided maternity pants. So far though, everything else has remained pretty much the same size. Any bets on how long that lasts?:)

1st trimester has also brought tiredness at levels I'd never imagined possible and outrageously vivid dreams just about every night on a mind-blowing range of scary, weird, or downright non-sensical topics. Do these go away as the weeks move on?

Anyways, Pete and I promise to post pictures as the tummy grows:)

Hugs!

BIG NEWS FOR 2008!

We are happy to announce that in 2008 we will be adding a new member to the Mahokenatez Clan! Kate is currently 11 weeks pregnant and on January 2nd we had our first appointment with Kat Miller C.N.M. During this appointment we heard our little baby's heart beat for the first time. Kate's "due date" is July 31st and we have no idea what is in store for us over the next 7 months but we are looking forward to the adventure. Our next visit to see Kat is scheduled for January 30th. Kate will be receiving a full work up and we should have more information the first week of February.

We're very excited for this huge change in our lives--our only regret is that we are not closer to you all so that we can share the experience first hand. So, our hope is that this blog helps bridge the gap:)

Check back often and please feel free to post replies or comments!

Love you all!
